Greeting Cards

Cars
I’m considering writing some greeting cards as a way to hone my writing skills and to make a little (emphasis on little) extra cash.

So I was wondering what your thoughts are on greeting cards.  What do you look for in a card? What struggles have you discovered in trying to find just the right one to communicate your thoughts?  What do you wish greeting cards would say?

Any thoughts would be welcomed as I think through ideas for writing greeting cards.  I’m a proud supporter of cards, buying and sending many cards on many different occasions.  I know what I look for but would love to hear from others.

Colorado Update

We are nearing the end of our senior trip here in Breckenridge and it has been a great trip.  Just six seniors went which is smaller than normal but a great group.  We have a great house here near downtown Breckenridge.  I’ll post pictures when I return home of the trip and the house.

We left late Saturday night and arrived late morning on Sunday.  We went to downtown Breckenridge on Monday and just relaxed to catch up on sleep and to get acclimated to the altitude here. Tuesday most of the group went white-water rafting on the Arkansas river. I stayed back with one youth who didn’t want to go which was completely fine with me.  I had a bad rafting trip several years ago where I almost drowned and I’m not particularly fond of water since then. Yesterday we all went horseback riding in the mountains which was beautiful because we had fresh snow.  It has snowed the last two days we’ve been here which is pretty but very WRONG for the end of May and senior trips.  All of the senior trips I’ve ever gone on have been to the beach which I love.  But the seniors get to choose and they selected Colorado.  So.. here I am riding a horse which makes me nervous in the middle of snow which makes me cold.  Man … I must really love these seniors.

Today the boys got up early and headed out for a day hike.  The girls opted to stay behind, sleep in and then do to downtown Breckenridge for the afternoon.

We will leave here tomorrow around lunch time and return to JC early on Saturday.

I’m looking forward to returning home to spend time with Blake and Morgan.

Senior Trip

Here is the newest picture of Morgan sent to me by my mom.

Feeding1She is a beauty.  I have yet to see her eyes though…

I’m in Breckenridge, CO, for the week with my seniors from our youth groups.  Every May/June we take them on a trip of their choice (within reason and budget) and this year’s group wanted to head west.  White-water rafting, horse-back riding, hiking . . . that’s the agenda.

Its beautiful here.  The scenery is breath-taking and the weather is great.

The group is smaller than normal – just six seniors but we are having a lot of fun.  They all get a long great so we’ve been playing lots of games together and enjoying meals around the table prepared by Chef Ken Enloe.

I was so thankful that Morgan came before I left for the trip. Now I have pictures to enjoy here and to tied me over until I return home.

Baby Morgan has arrived!

My sister gave birth tonight to a little girl, Morgan Leigh Meredith!  She is a tiny one – weighing 5 lbs. 13 oz. She is beautiful and has a full head of dark hair.  I was honored to be in the delivery room this time along with Greg, Ang’s husband.  What a miracle to observe and what a cherished bond I have with baby Morgan.

I was so worried that I was going to miss her delivery.  Her due date was June 14 but we knew she would arrive early.  However, I leave Saturday for a week for  trip and was praying fervently that I wouldn’t miss this important family moment.  When I went with my sister today to her weekly check-in, at first it appeared that Morgan would not be coming in the next couple of days.  So I was preparing myself for that.  Then the doctor came back in after doing a little test and said to her surprise and ours that Ang’s water had broke.  So it was time to have a baby!  Ang was crying but I was!  I was so elevated and overcome with thankfulness that I would not miss this.  I had to go outside while Ang finished her paper work because the tears were coming.

We went to the hospital around 3:30 or so and things progress throughout the afternoon and evening until Morgan came.

Morgan is a little early and little small.  She is having to work a little harder than the nurses would like for her oxygen. Although they say it is not serious, we would all appreciate your prayers that she will develop strong.

Thanks -
AUNT MOE

PS – I’ll have pictures posted soon before I leave town.

Vegas Done

If you were reading my blog, youmight think I never returned from Vegas.  I did actually returned after the weekend there and no, Mark, I’m not SORRY for neglecting my blog.  :)

Vegas was nice. I enjoyed the times with friends and being away from work and the sunny poolside lounging.  I could definitely do without the crowds, the noise, the craziness, the vanity, the prices . . .  I can’t believe what people will pay for a pair of shoes or a purse.  Vegas is a whole nother world from Missouri and I’m glad to say I’ve been there, done that.  The only other time I was every in Vegas was when I was 12 or 13 for the Southern Baptist Convention. Yep – that’s right. They were in Vegas.  I think that was the year they were condemning showgirls and white tigers.  The next year or so they went on to Florida and took on Mickey Mouse.

Anyways – its been busy since I’ve been home.  May is crazy as most people now.  Lots of graduation stuff going on with my youth.  We’ve had the nice dinner and I’m currently waiting for the slide show to finish download to my zip drive so I can get it loaded and ready for church tomorrow.

Today the church sponsored a Act of Kindness day at a local laundramat.  A handful of us were there from 10 am – 2 pm paying for people’s laundry and providing snacks and conversations.  It was great! We met so many nice folks and their reaction to people paying for their laundry was very entertaining.  Some people took more convincing then others that we truly didn’t want anything in return.  We were just doing acts of love because of God’s love. It was nice to be a part of a healthy outreach program and to present a different type of church and Christian to our neighbors at the laundramat.  Ironically, most of our helpers today from the church were our neweset members and a recent new visitor. They were awesome at helping people and giving them money. It was wonderful to see them in action and to learn from them.

My sister is getting closer to delivering baby Morgan.  Her due date is June 14 but it looks like she may come early. I’m hoping this next week because I leave on Saturday for our senior trip and I really, really do not want to miss the delivery. I’m trying to prepare myself for that reality in case it is what happens but praying for God to give Morgan a good shove and send her on out.

It appears my senior video has frozen in the download process with 60% done.  Grrrr.  Guess I need to get back to work.

Vegas bound

I’m on my way to Vegas for the weekend. One of my friends is celebrating her 30th birthday and invited some friends to join her for a weekend trip. Me and three lawyers. You know there is a joke here somewhere.

Anyway- I may post a pic or two but otherwise I will be enjoying the poolside and some great books.
